Diggers
Excavators are vehicles which are used in the construction and mining industries. Excavators are primarily designed for digging applications, but are exceptionally versatile, and are often used for a wide variety of purposes, such as : digging foundations or trenches; forestry; landscaping projects; demolition work and heavy lifting or tool carrying. They consist of a cab with a hydraulic arm, with a bucket affixed to the end, all set upon an undercarriage equipped with either continuous tracks or wheels. Depending on the nature of the project, as well as the nature of the terrain, tracks or wheels will be better suited; tracks will give stability and traction on uneven ground, but will damage roads, whilst wheels are suitable for working on concrete or paving.diggers
Diggers are extremely valuable pieces of equipment to have on site, primarily because of their versatility. Diggers can be fitted with a wide rang of attachments which allow them to perform tasks which are auxiliary to their original function. The majority of diggers are compatible with a quick-coupler, or quick-attach system, which simplifies the process of detaching and fitting hydraulic attachments. The range of attachments available is expansive, with the most common being: a breaker attachment, for penetrating hard surfaces; an auger attachment, for boring holes, and a grapple attachment for handling logs, for example. Most diggers are also equipped with a horizontal dozer blade at the front of the vehicle, which renders them capable of small-scale grading operations, as well as moving or pushing material around a site; a hole can be re-filled after it has been dug, or the earth can be moved away.
diggers for sale
Diggers for sale are available in a wide variety of sizes. The smallest diggers are called ‘mini diggers’ or ‘compact excavators’, and they begin at weights of around 1610 Kg. At the other end of the scale, the largest digger for sale in the world is the Bucyrus RH400, which weighs 980,000 Kg and delivers 4500 hp. Mini diggers are ideal for residential renovations, as the smallest of them can fit through a standard doorway, or access gate, and so are perfect, for example, for digging foundations for an extension.
Used excavators
Used excavators are an option that many businesses and contractors take advantage of, for a number of reasons. Obviously, the purchase of a used excavator keeps initial costs down because of a lower purchase price, but this wouldn’t be enough if they didn’t offer cost efficiency overall. However, the machine life of an excavator is high, at approximately 10,000 hours of work, and so even a machine that has performed 5000 or 6000 hours of work is still capable of operating effectively for the duration of a number of small to medium length projects, offering an a cost efficiency to the owner. Excavators also retain a high re-sale value, for the reasons described, and many used excavators are in excellent condition having been used, and then sold relatively quickly by the operator, in order to recoup as much of his purchase price as possible.
