Komatsu Construction EquipmentKomatsu is the second largest manufacturer of construction equipment in the world, and indeed in many of the Asian spheres, such as Japan and China, they have the largest market share. Komatsu construction equipment began as Komatsu iron works, which was inaugurated as a subsidiary of Tekeuchi Mining Industry, but grew and in 1921 it was floated as a public company.
Komatsu Construction Equipment for saleKomatsu construction equipment for sale to the public began with agricultural tractors in the 1930’s, though they also began to, in parallel, produce military tractors for the Japanese Imperial army. The 1950’s saw a post-war rebuilding process take off in Japan, and the demand for bulldozers allowed Komatsu to grow substantially by their manufacture. The 1960’s saw Komatsu begin to export their vehicles, with an ambitious plan to “encircle” their great rivals Caterpillar, on Caterpillar’s home territory, the USA.
Used Komatsu Construction EquipmentUsed Komatsu construction equipment circulates frequently, not only because Komatsu’s large market share dictates that that would be the case, but because their vehicles are well known for quality and reliability. Komatsu’s machines have been powered by Komatsu engines since the late 1950’s, and it is that type of synergy which makes them such seamless performers, as well as being easy to service. Recently Komatsu has experimented with hybrid vehicles, striving to find ways of reducing harmful emissions, and to that end, in 2008, they launched the Komatsu PC200-8 hybrid, an excavator which stores formerly wasted energy, and reduces fuel consumption and emissions.
Komatsu are one of the oldest firms in Japan, and throughout their trading life they have striven to constantly improve and innovate their technology. The 21st century brings its own challenges for Komatsu, with the growing need for the transportation sector to be sustainable. It is a challenge that Komatsu will do everything to meet.
